Southlight Gallery represents premiere artists from Northeast Florida, many of whom have regional, national, or international standing, and is distinctive in its diverse offerings. Established in 2009, by four artists determined to bring a significant and sustained fine art presence to Jacksonville’s urban core as part of an overall vision for the revitalization of the Downtown area, this gallery exists as a dynamic collaborative that has never veered from its original mission.
During the ensuing years, Southlight Gallery has showcased the works of more than 50 select artists, curated 100+ fine art exhibitions, including 8 annual UNF student and faculty shows since UNF ArtSpace joined us, and featured over 100 local performing artists in the areas of music, theatre, and dance at our popular Art Walk experiences on the First Wednesday of each month. The guest artist space is an ongoing program to showcase works by established & upcoming artists.
The revitalization advocacy dreamed of in 2009 has been realized many times over as Southlight has enjoyed 5 distinct locations. The gallery’s presence has consistently attracted key tenants to full-time leases in spaces long vacant until Southlight’s vibrant exhibitions reawakened entrepreneurial interest.
