A psychological phenomenon in which the mind responds to stimulus by perceiving a familiar pattern where none exists; Pareidolia.

As we grow, learn, and create new experiences, our minds store this information for future reference. Children have a unique perspective on the unknown and unfamiliar because their minds resource pool is limited. They are still creating these connections so it is much easier for a child to find elephants in the clouds and faces in rock formations.

I am fascinated with the unknown and unfamiliar. Experimenting with various materials and processes provide this bridge between the unknown, transience, and Pareidolia. Chance, probability, and natural occurrences consistently inform decisions in the continuum of my process. My work is the result of ongoing experiments with different materials and techniques. The forms and final piece are revealed as my experience with the material is heightened. Focusing my work on the non-representational hybridization of sculpture, painting and installation aids the viewer in the pursuit of Pareidolia.

This site-specific installation is immersive, meant to transform your experience of the space through exploration. Structure and relationship are the language chosen to manipulate compositional movement. An objectified presence which breathes, building relationships into a complexity. It is the abstract narratives on beauty and dynamic orders that shift, change, or mutate the existential nature of the work. My stylistic approach to art is inherently a-typical fine art, engineered, embryonic-edged, and distilled to abstraction. The work is drawn from a continuum: a thread of universal communication, an innately human urge to assimilate familiar forms in the obscure.

Although this piece’s expression might be initially perceived as straightforward, structural, reductive, and abstract, there is more. I aim to seamlessly weave complexities into a seemingly apparent simplicity that is incomplete. The work often changes and unfurls through the multi-faceted faces of “in- the-round” sculpture. The art should behave as life, not through being stagnant, but rather breathing through constant mutation and transformation.

It’s not about buying and illustrating someone's opinion of current acquired taste; it is about solitary searching, discovering, and conveying honest expressions of truth. These are objects of meditation, dynamic mesmerizers, and lyrical, soft-spoken labyrinths of underlying content.

Explore the work and the statement will unfold.
