OPENING NOVEMBER 4, 2026 5PM TO 8PM

Join us at the November Downtown Artwalk as we debut the natural world of Gordon Meggison.
Gordon Meggison was born in 1954 in Tampa, Fl and attended St Josephs Academy in Japan from 1963 to 1968, followed by three years in Maine and eventually returned to Florida where he studied at Jacksonville University in 1971. Meggison describes himself as a ‘citizen of the world’ due to his extensive travels throughout Asia, Europe and the United States, which have deeply affected his artistic practice.
Meggison uses light, texture, and a sense of place to mediate a relationship with nature. As he explains, “To appreciate life is to see that these must function together to have balance and connection.” His global perspective informs depictions of the natural world that evoke reality through a pre-industrial sensibility. Through layered, impasto acrylic landscapes, he explores the poetic relationships among the environments that surround him.
